TORONTO, ON, April 28, 2015 – Securing private capital and government incentives for business just got easier for Toronto region businesses, thanks to a new partnership announced today between the Toronto Region Board of Trade and The Funding Portal Inc.
“The Toronto region is Canada’s innovation hub, responsible for about 20% of our country’s GDP. Finding funding to fuel growth is top of mind for these entrepreneurs and CFOs,” said Teri Kirk, President, The Funding Portal. “This alliance between the chamber of commerce for Canada’s largest urban centre and Canada’s leading solution for securing business funding is exactly what is needed to help capital find companies, and companies find capital.”
Businesses wanting to use free tools and explore service offerings will be connected to the Funding Portal through the Board’s website. This portal will enable them to search more than 7,000 sources of government funding and capital to easily and quickly find funds for their organization.
According to recent data reported by The Funding Portal, governments award $27.6 billion in funding to Canadian businesses each year through more than 4,500 business support programs. The Funding Portal is also registered by securities commissions to assist companies into private capital markets, which invest about $41 billion per year into the high-growth company market.
“For our region’s business to continue to grow here at home and expand into global markets they require access to capital,” said Jan De Silva, President & CEO, Toronto Region Board of Trade. “This is a tremendous opportunity to connect businesses seeking funding with public and private investors.”
