Who Got Government Grants This Week

Funding for the week of Nov. 26, 2018, under Canadian federal and provincial grants and business incentive programs, reached $1.14B, up from $210.2M during the previous week.

Top Sector. The municipal and nonprofit sector ranked first this week, attracting $797.4M, 70% of total incentives.

Top Region. B.C. is the top province this week, securing $506.2M and accounting for 44% of total national disbursements.

Top Recipients in Ontario.

  • A project to excavate a new river valley in Toronto, part of the Port Lands Flood Protection project, receives $400M in federal funding. The project is managed by Waterfront Toronto.
  • Maple Leaf Foods receives $20M from the Strategic Innovation Fund and $8M from the Canadian Agricultural Partnership to invest in technology at its facility in London.
  • The Government of Ontario invests $20M to build a new Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment in Clinton.
