Applications are now open for the $35 million Emergency On-Farm Support Fund. The program, which was designed to lessen the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on farm workers, including temporary foreign workers, was announced in July.

The $35 million fund will be managed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, with costs shared 50-50 between the federal government and producers up to $100,000.

An additional 10 per cent will be provided to women and youth applicants making the split 60:40 as the government is taking steps to promote and empower women and youth in the agricultural sector.

The fund is only being made available in Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and the territories.

Additional programs are being developed and delivered by other provinces and are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
