Call for Proposals Opens for Community-based Projects for Seniors

The Government of Canada has opened a Call for Proposals for community-based projects under its 2020-21 New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).

What types of projects can receive funding?

This year, funding is available for projects that offer specific COVID-19 relief and recovery activities for seniors. However, traditional projects are also eligible, including those that support healthy aging, prevent elder abuse and fraud, combat ageism, improve access to government services and benefits, and adapt community-based organizations to a more virtual environment.

Is my organization eligible?

Eligible applicants include nonprofits, municipalities, governments, Indigenous organizations, coalitions, networks, committees, research organizations or institutes, educational institutions, public health and social services institutions, and for-profits if their project is non-commercial in nature.

Post-secondary institutions, social service and public health institutions, and provincially/territorially-funded institutions are eligible with the agreement of their provincial or territorial government.

How much money can my organization receive?

Projects can receive up to $25,000 each. Smaller grants of $5000 are also available for organizations that have not received funding from this program in the past five years.
