U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue has announced that Tennessee will receive the first of many federal investments supporting the creation of critical broadband infrastructure in underserved areas across the USA.
- A $2.85M grant will support Internet connectivity in 347 households in Halls, TN, as well as one community facility in rural Lauderdale County.
- The money will flow under the ReConnect Program grant.
- Congress has provided $600M to expand broadband infrastructure and services in the rural United States.
- More funding will be announced later this year.
