Funding to Expand Cellular Services in Newfoundland and Labrador

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has announced a new call for proposals to expand wireless coverage in local communities.

Quick Facts.

  • The call for proposals is for a cost-shared cellular service pilot initiative.
  • It will contribute up to a maximum of 25% of project costs towards cellular coverage infrastructure upgrades.
  • The remaining 75% is to be provided by the service provider, in partnership with municipalities, private ventures, co-operatives, social enterprises and/or regional government partnerships.
  • This is the second call for funding. The first round of funding saw the Government contribute $1.5M to ten cost-shared agreements, leveraging over $4.4M from partners.
