Canadian nonprofits and charities can now apply for more funding to address the pandemic, the Government of Canada announced over the weekend.
In total, this represents a $350M investment under the new Emergency Community Support Fund. Applications can be presented through to the United Way Centraide Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, and the Community Foundations of Canada.
The funding can be used for various purposes, including increasing volunteer-based deliveries, providing transportation services, scaling up helplines, providing training, and holding virtual meetings.
In addition, the Government also announced it will invest $25M over five years in Black community organizations. Grassroots organizations will be able to apply for grants of up to $100k under this initiative in the late spring. Tropicana Community Services, the Black Business Initiative, and Le Groupe 3737 will help disburse investments.
