New Money for Municipalities

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), one of Canada’s leading sources of funding for municipalities, has announced the launch of new two funding programs.

The first program, which will sit under the Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP), will provide asset management grants for municipalities to strengthen their practices. Grant of up to $50,000 are available for asset management initiatives that help communities make better decisions regarding infrastructure. This initiative will mostly provide support to small and rural communities.

The second program, the Sustainable Affordable Housing (SAH) initiative, is a new stream under the Green Municipal Fund. It is a new $300M program to support local affordable housing providers in retrofiting existing affordable housing, or in building new, energy-efficient units that emit lower GHG emissions.

These changes bring the total number of funding streams open at the FCM to 63 initiatives. These funding programs can support a wide range of projects, including asset management, brownfields, energy, housing, planning, sustainability, transportation, waste, and water.

Fundingportal partners with the Canadian Network of Asset Managers (CNAM) to help municipalities find and secure funding. View our offerings for CNAM members here.
